Flower Pot Arranging

On Tuesday 20th January 2015, Flower Power workshop took place at Bosnia and Herzegovina Centre. This was organised by Hannah Stirland from Derby Refugee Advice Centre. Clients learnt how to create elegant bouquets which were then donated to care homes and hostels. The session was delivered by Joan Hall and Doreen Hinds. Their professionalism, generosity and kindness gave them a big fan club at Derby Refugee Advice Centre. I hope that the day gave them just as much joy as we felt. We learnt the names of flowers and foliage, plus colours and which seasons brought which blooms.

We all had a fabulous time and clients were talking about it throughout the afternoon. We delivered the bouquets at lunchtime. It was wonderful - great for integration, plus so creative and healing. It really had the feel-good-factor. There were 21 clients taking part, from countries including Syria, Kuwait, Zimbabwe, Sudan, Pakistan, Eritrea, Iran and South Africa.
